Making the Case for Support: The principles of creating your case
|
Tuesday, June 4, 2013
TBD
Presented by Walt Gillette, ACFRE – Director of Development, WAMU, Washington, DC; and Gretchen Gordon, CFRE – Assistant General Manager & Director of Development and Outreach, KUAC FM/TV, Fairbanks, AK

When focusing on your biggest donors and gift conversations, donors and funders don’t appreciate boilerplate...and most membership materials do not a case statement make! Put aside your fancy brochures and often-used annual appeals. You'll need to refocus and work collaboratively on a few core talking points that clearly describe the importance of your station's work. It's even more important to know how to tailor those talking points – with the right balance of persuasion and vision -- to develop unique new language to speak directly to the interests of the donor or prospect on the other side of the table. The process is extremely rewarding -- and perhaps a rite of passage -- for you as a development professional, and for your entire station staff. Learn exactly what a case for support is (and is not) and how to effectively deploy case points or a case prospectus in conversations with your donors. |
